After five full seasons in the NASCAR Xfinity Series where he competed for Joe Gibbs Racing and Stewart-Haas, claiming three wins, Riley Herbst is now a full-time NASCAR Cup Series driver for 23XI Racing. Herbst is enthused to be stepping up to NASCAR’s premier championship.

“Yeah, it’s cool,” said the 25-year-old Herbst at Atlanta Motor Speedway where he will drive the No. 35 Monster Energy Toyota Camry on Sunday afternoon. “It’s fun. I’m excited to get one underneath the belt at Daytona and to kind of keep working along for it — it’s a long season.”

While 17th wasn’t the finish he was looking for at Daytona, Herbst was pleased with the speed, pace and performance he and the No. 35 effort displayed on the high banks.

“I felt like we had a really good chance at it,” said Herbst. “We were in fourth or fifth place on the green-white-checker. I thought we put ourselves in position. We just didn’t execute the finish. But overall I thought it was a good weekend to build off of and something we can take to Atlanta.
