Robin Frijns was quickest in the final practice session for the Misano E-Prix as the second half of the double-header event got underway.
The Envision Racing man was the only driver dip below the 1m 17s barrier on Sunday morning, his time of 1m 16.959 being 0.070s quicker than TAG Heuer Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein.
NEOM McLaren’s Jake Hughes was third quickest, a further 0.121s back, with the Jaguar pairing of Nick Cassidy and Mitch Evans completing the top-five. Antonio Felix da Costa – who won on the road in Saturday’s race only to have that win taken from him in a post-race ruling
due to having an illegal throttle damper spring fitted to his Porsche – was sixth fastest, ahead of DS Penske’s Jean-Eric Vergne who went quickest in both FP1 and FP2.
Nissan’s Oliver Rowland, who inherited Saturday’s race win, was eighth quickest, ahead of Mahindra driver Nyck de Vries, who stopped on track briefly in the opening 10 minutes of the session.
Envision book-ended the top-10 with Sebastien Buemi in 10th, ahead of DS Penske’s St offel Vandoorne in 11th, Maserati MSG Rac ing’s Maximilain Guenther in 12th and Abt Cupra driver Nico Mueller in 13th, with Andretti’s Norman Nato 14th, and Jehan Daruvala in the second Maserati in 15th.
Jake Dennis was 16th for Andretti, ahead of Sacha Fenestraz (Nissan) in 17th, Lucas di Grassi (Abt Cupra) and the ERT pairing of Dan Ticktum and Sergio Sette Camara – who entered Sunday off the back of an impressive double points finish for the minnows – while Edoardo Mortara (Mahindra) and Sam Bird (McLaren) completed the field.
