Logano takes tiebreaker Atlanta pole alongside Berry

Joey Logano will lead the NASCAR Cup Series field to the green flag at EchoPark Speedway (Atlanta) with Ford teammate Josh Berry joining him on the front row.

Logano and Berry ran the same speed in qualifying, 178.960mph at 30.979s, but Logano earned the pole position on a tiebreaker. NASCAR breaks ties using owner points, with the highest car in points getting the spot.

Team Penske also put all three of its cars, and alliance partner Berry at Wood Brothers Racing, inside the top four.

“Well, you know we all have the same things and obviously Team Penske does a great job at building the same cars, it seems like,” Logano said of his 32nd pole win. “I’m proud of everyone at the shop. I’m proud of Roush Yates Engines. This is always a test of how close you can build the cars, but [also] how much speed you can put in them. They’re fast for qualifying; we’ll see what we have in the race. But it’s neat to have Autotrader up front again.”

Logano is also the defending race winner at EchoPark.
