Lundgaard’s oval prowess steadily increasing

Christian Lundgaard’s skills as an oval racer continue to be sharpened with each increasingly impressive performance.

The Arrow McLaren driver finished seventh at the Indianapolis 500 in May, improved to a sixth at the final Iowa Speedway race, backed that up with another sixth-place result last weekend at Milwaukee, and just delivered a career best in oval qualifying by capturing third for the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway.

“I’d say we improved a lot,” Lundgaard said. “I think the past two races – Milwaukee and here so far – I think we’re taking a step forward, which is laying the foundation for 2026. I felt comfortable this morning and in qualifying.”

The Dane was feeling confident after charging from 17th to sixth at Milwaukee and has a much shorter trip to the front on Sunday.

“You know, I had a great time out there,” he told RACER shortly after the checkered flag at the Wisconsin oval. “After practice, too, I thought we were really strong on race pace. I think we showed that today. The car was good, obviously, driving 17th to sixth, and honestly, I think we could have finished on the podium.”
